I couldn't have said it better myself. Speaking of engagement rings, I have heard about the rule of thumb - a guy has to buy a ring that is approximately worth 2 months of his salary. Really? Call me weird, but even as a girl, it seems too much to spend on a piece of jewelery. If my fiance to be makes $10K a month I could potentially be wearing a Honda / Toyota on my hand. What if my fiance to be made $15K a month - If I lived anywhere but California, I could be wearing the downpayment to my first house on my hand.. Hmmm!!! I guess - Priorities!! But what if he was a student or made $2500 per month...How much is too much and how much is too little??

That is true..why spend so much on a ring that you wear? It is quite strange but at the same time...its quite shiny! :) and DIAMONDS are a girls best friend!woohoo
Selecting a ring for your GF/fiancé is a big optimization problem. You have to balance your budget (cheaper the better) with her desires (bigger the better), while working under the constraints of indirect expectations of friends, family and colleagues. You would know that the problem is easy to solve if your significant other says, "Babe, just give me a normal ring and save the money for the super bowl tickets J". Otherwise….all that glitters is not gold…good luck !!

All that glitters are sparkly gigantic diamonds. No Super Bowl tickets...but if USC is playing in the National Championship Game...we are getting tickets.
That is insane, how about saving that money and having a 6 month honeymoon round the world.
Its a special moment when someone puts that ring on your finger and says those 3 words. I would kill to re-live that moment again and again. Who cares if its diamond or plastic...
Did I hear superbowl tickets. I like the sound of that. Yeah definitely superbowl tickets...
